The town of Jejuri in Maharashra is famous for the Bhandara festival, where devotees splash each other with turmeric. The festival celebrates Lord Khandoba, a folk deity popular across the Deccan, who also goes by names like Malhari, Mallanna and Mallikarjuna. The deity is equally venerated by Muslims as Mallu Khan.
