Did you know that Queen Victoria adopted an Indian princess? In 1834, the King of Coorg, Chikka Virarajendra was deposed by the British. So he went to England and met Queen Victoria. She did not return his kingdom, but instead became Godmother to his daughter Princess Gouramma and baptised her Victoria Gouramma. Gouramma settled in England, and eventually married a British army officer.
