A series of digs carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India in a little village called Keeladi near Madurai unearthed artefacts dating back at least to the 6th century BCE.

These excavations allow us to take another look at theories of how civilisation began in south India. Was civilisation in south India really not more than 2300 years old? Or were there thriving settlements in these parts much before that time? And how were they linked to the Indus Valley Civilisation?

Join Storytrails for a special live session where we take you through the highlights of one of the most significant archaeological excavations in recent times!

I really liked the simple way they explained the various artefacts that we wouldn’t have understood without a good guide.

What an honour, and pleasure, to be guests in a Bharathanatyam dancer’s house. And see the artist dancing in front of us. And listen to an excellent story teller describing the sacred origin of the dance, the infinite nuances of the performer’s gestures, with their evident or hidden significances. I’ll keep in my memory the beauty of that experience.

Fascinating and interesting. A mix of fact with story telling. All made pleasurable by a most engaging guide. You couldn’t help but enjoy this tour. The time passed all too quickly. Highly recommended

The small eateries were carefully chosen, the stories were wonderful. We loved it so much we’re coming back for the other tours.

A wonderful view of a side of Chennai and Tamil Nadu which is very present, but usually much more difficult to see.
