What happens when historical and fictional worlds collide? Sometimes, the result can be a glorious work of art that’s inspirational, insightful and entertaining all at once – like Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Ponniyin Selvan. How did Kalki make even his imaginary characters seem so believable? What marvellous objects and settings from the Chola period can we still see today? Which historical events inspired Kalki to spin his own saga? Join us for an engaging online session as we dive into the stories from south Indian history that formed the foundations of Ponniyin Selvan.

What an honour, and pleasure, to be guests in a Bharathanatyam dancer’s house. And see the artist dancing in front of us. And listen to an excellent story teller describing the sacred origin of the dance, the infinite nuances of the performer’s gestures, with their evident or hidden significances.
