Festivals of India – Dussehra

Once, a powerful goddess vanquished an evil demon, and a festival was dedicated to her triumph. This is only one of the many stories around Dusshera, and different parts of India celebrate the festival in different ways. In Bengal Durga Puja is celebrated with spectacular pandals, while in Tamil Nadu it is celebrated at home with bright, colourful kolu dolls.

In North India, it’s the season of Ramlila performances, while Gujarat dances the nine nights of Navratri away with great joy and enthusiasm. Join us as we take you through the many different stories and traditions around the multifaceted festival of Dussehra.
